The market leader in intelligent, easy-to-operate home heating control has completed another impressive installation on a hi-tech development for Scotland-based luxury housebuilder, Manor Kingdom.

smartkontrols has provided a purpose-designed solution for the newly opened Senator house type in Cardrona Village, near Peebles, seamlessly integrating advanced heating and lighting control.

On this project smartkontrols has worked closely with Glasgow-based custom installation company, SG Systems to provide a ‘future-proof’ and fully integrated solution. The result is a 21st century control system which offers the occupiers of this five bedroom deluxe home highly advanced, accurate and responsive temperature, time and lighting scene setting control, lower fuel consumption, better security and easy access via keypad, PC or laptop either within the home or remotely.

Energy efficient condensing boilers are designed to heat the radiators located throughout the property. The house is divided into a series of ‘zones’, including specific rooms or areas of the house, where all temperatures and occupancy times can be individually set up and adjusted, allowing complete flexibility.

Discreet, thimble-size temperature sensors are installed to measure individual zone and outdoor temperatures, used to decide precisely when the heating should be activated. The boilers will only run when a zone needs them to run, ensuring optimum energy efficiency at all times. The smartkontrols system is also controlling and monitoring the operation of each boiler together with the temperature settings and time schedules governing the property’s hot water supply.

smartkontrols intelligent actuators are fitted to the manifold pipe work distribution system, delivering hot water to the radiators in each zone. These actuators offer a far more accurate and responsive heating control than is possible with ordinary Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRV’s). These unique, easy-to-install, intelligent products are connected to the control network through a two-wire bus that carries both data and power.

smartkontrols has also provided the sophisticated, dimmable lighting control. This allows any one of the specially pre-programmed scenes to be used for each individual room to suit mood or time of day.

Dedicated route lighting (eg from front door to kitchen or from living room to bedroom) is also available with the system, as are an automatic holiday switching facility when the home is unoccupied, and activated links to the property’s intruder alarm, smoke alarm and electric gate opening systems.

Simple, touch-button interrogation and operation of the combined control system is possible through a single smart, custom-made control panel wall-mounted in each room.

Alternatively, through smartkontrols SmartServer device, this network is fully integrated into the property’s fully structured cabling system. This enables the homeowner to adjust time, temperature and scene settings quickly and easily from any PC and a wireless web tablet link to the LAN within the house. With the addition of a simple router connection, via the web, allows remote access to the house from potentially any location worldwide. The SmartServer automatically interrogates the control system, so building up a complete picture of the network and serves up this information as HTML pages.

Additionally, in partnership with SG Systems, smartkontrols has integrated the lighting control in the family room with the audio-visual equipment to create a home cinema. At the press of a button a screen and projector drop from the ceiling, the curtains close and the lights dim as the room turns into a home cinema . A universal remote control sensor is fitted discreetly to the fitted furniture below the screen, pointing the Philips Pronto unit at the screen will activate all the functions. This offers a much more competitively priced alternative to traditional systems.
