Features

The SmartHome Text is a remote control and monitoring unit for your property. It allows you to dial your property from one of 8 registered phones and turn the heating on or off, and then get an SMS message to confirm the current status.

In addition to this you can monitor up to two items, such as fuel oil level for remote properties, or security status and have the SmartHome Text report this to you as well.

If you have a second property, a holiday home, a holiday cabin or just want to remotely control the heating in your home, the SmartHome Text is the answer.

Once you have set up the telephone numbers that you want to use, by simply dialling the SmartHome Text you can enable the heating on or off and you do not get charged for it! The unit is intelligent enough to respond to an incoming call without actually answering it. The SmartHome Text will send an SMS text message each time its status is changed. This SMS can be to a designated mobile phone or to your home phone if it is SMS enabled.

Costs and Charges

The SmartHome text uses mobile phone technology to enable you to communicate with your property. Built in to the unit is a GSM modem and this has a Pay As You Go SIM card fitted.

Once you have purchased your SmartHome Text unit, your SmartHome Text sends text messages at the normal tariff, typically 12p per text. That is all you have to pay, there are no hidden costs or premium rate numbers. You can top up from many cash machines For example HSBC ATM information

Alternatively via an E-TopUp swipe card wherever you see the mobile top up signs - everywhere from the supermarket to the corner store.

Alarms

The unit comes with two volt free inputs that can be used to monitor items of plant that you may have at your property. For example if you use oil to heat the property then it might be useful to know if you are running low. If you have an oil level switch fitted to your tank with a volt free output, you can connect this to your SmartHome Text and it will report the status. In the event of the oil level going below the set level, you will receive a text message.

There are many other things that can be monitored, for example the water level in the boilers, carbon monoxide or gases, your security alarm.
