Once the SmartHome Text has been wired into the property, then you need to set the telephone numbers. See below for full details on the features available.
The SmartHome Text has a built in clock, but this needs to be set by sending an SMS message to the unit. The best way to do this is to check what the GSM signal level is.
Send the following text message
MASTER LEVEL
You will receive a confirmation SmartHome Text, Time, Date, GSM Level 5 followed by a status report. If the GSM signal level is below 2, you may find that you will not get reliable communications. Talk to SmartHome Controls Ltd for advice.
Your SmartHome Text has storage for 8 telephone numbers. Use telephone numbers 1 and 2 and each time the unit changes state, you will receive an SMS text message to your phone. Use telephone numbers 3-8 and you can still dial in and change the heating and request status reports or credit left however you will not get an automatic report each time there is a change of state.
If you set up Telephone store 1 this will allow you to turn the heating on and off and receive an SMS text message with the status of the property. Set your mobile number in the phone book of the SmartHome Text.
Use your mobile phone to send the following text message where xxxxxxxxxxx is your telephone number.
MASTER TEL1 SMS xxxxxxxxxxx
Note this must be sent in this format. You will receive a confirmation to your phone.
You can set up the other 7 phone book entries by changing the "TEL1" above to 2-8
You can check the credit on the phone from any of the registered telephone numbers, however the phone must be able to receive an SMS text message.
Send the following text message
CREDIT
You will get a reply SmartHome Text, Time, Date, Credit:#x.xx where x.xx is the current credit on the SIM card.
There are two simple ways to top up your SIM card if credit gets low. Take the E-TopUp card to a retail outlet which shows the E TopUp sign.
Use a Cash machine (ATM) which supports "Mobile TopUp" and use your debit card. You simply use your Debit card and follow the on screen prompts. You will need to have the phone number that you wish to top up and this is shown on the rear of the SmartHome Text or in your documentation.
